Rocky Mountain National Park

On the first Sunday in May, we thought it was Mother's Day so we went for a drive to Rocky Mountain National Park.

Turns out, we were a week early.  But that just means I got to celebrate twice!

 The kids and I

Phil and Chloe on the boardwalk.

 Can you spot the pika?

Zoomed in! They are really well camouflaged!

As high up as we could get.  The mountain road was still closed for the winter...

It was a bit chilly at the top!

You can see for miles up here!

Another family picture, courtesy of the self timer...

Mean Dad!

Back down at a lower elevation, we stopped at the ranger station to go for a little hike.

 Along the creek.

 Lucy was being naughty...

Luckily, he never fell in...

They found a big stick and needed to throw it in the creek.

After we left the ranger station, we found a scenic spot for another picture.

 Elk mating season.

Trying their best to stay quiet and not scare the elk.

We discovered a chain of mountain lakes.

The snow started falling just as we got there.

Either they're being really nice to each other or the cooler weather is getting to them!

Crossing the bridge the hard way!
