Denver Botanic Gardens Blossoms of Light

A couple of days after Christmas, we decided to check out the
Blossoms of Light at the Denver Botanic Gardens.

We had seen the workmen putting all the strings of lights on earlier that month but were amazed at how it looked in the dark!

Miss Smiles

Mr Winky

Miss Crankypants (who wasn't actually a crankypants, she just didn't want to smile...)

A bit of a blur, but it shows off the colourful lights!

It was very crowded but at least the hoards of people kept our kids from running off too quickly without taking time to enjoy the spectacle!

There must have been thousands of lights on each tree!

The girls admiring the pink lights.

The difference a flash can make: Here, with a flash, you can see all the fine details but not the glow of the lights.

Without a flash, the colours come to life.

Someone's not sticking to the path...

Time to go home to bed!

Merry Christmas!

Christmas Eve - we're all set for Santa!

The kids got to open one present each, plus Great Granny's gift.

Zhu Zhu pets from Great Granny!

Charlie with his Roald Dahl complete book set!

Another book for Daddy.

Opening presents via Skype with Grandma and Grandpa in Manitoba!

A happy boy!

A late Christmas Eve crab legs dinner - more enjoyable after the kids are in bed!

The stockings are hung...

Chocolate shortbread cookies baked and decorated just for Santa by Charlie, Lucy and Chloe and carrots for the reindeer.

Christmas morning:

Charlie had peeked over the balcony before coming to wake us up and thought he saw a monster downstairs. Turns out, Santa had put together Lucky, Chloe's new pony!

Everyone wants a turn!

So excited! Someone loves Sesame Street!

Thanks, Santa!

Lucy asked for a Vet Clinic...did she get it?

You betcha!

Phil got some goodies too in his stocking...

Now, to open the presents from under the tree...

What nice sisters to give him all those airplanes...

Charlie picked out a Dora doll for Lucy because he knows how much she loves her!

Here's the big one for Charlie.

He desperately wanted a 3DS...

And he got it!

A ballerina costume!

And a ballerina jewelry box!

Helping Mommy with her present.

Daddy had to get Charlie the Lego Satellite launch pad.

A hairstyling set for Lucy so she can PRETEND to style her hair...

Some DVDs...

Just what he wanted - a Kindle!

A puppy for Chloe!

A warm hat from Grandma in BC!

Charlie with his Canada mittens that he proudly wears to school on cold days.
