St Lucia

The Carnival Miracle in port in Castries, St Lucia.

Charlie, Phil and I took a catamaran excursion, leaving Lucy and Chloe behind at Camp Carnival.

Charlie and I figured this little island must have been a hideout for pirates a long time ago!

The breathtaking Marigot Bay.

We want to come back and stay at this resort some day. It's hard to see, but there's a tire swing hanging from one of the tall palm trees.

If we can't get a room at that resort, we could always just buy a yacht and stay on it...

Entering Anse Cochon, a secluded beach accessible only by boat.

Locals boarded the catamaran and had all kinds of souvenirs to sell to us.

We anchored the boat and had a chance to go snorkeling.

They advised us to snorkel at our own risk and avoid the fire coral. I hope this wasn't fire coral...

We mostly saw these fish, Sergeant Majors Damselfish.

And these ones (no idea what they are).

But this little guy, an intense blue with silver spots was the one that caught my attention. He looked like a rhinestone bedazzled fish!

After snorkeling, we bought some trinkets to take home. Charlie got a whale tooth necklace and the girls and I got some pink shell bracelets.

We also got a big conch shell. The man selling it demonstrated how easy it was to blow. But after paying for it, we realized we'd need some practice...

Charlie, in a pose reminiscent of the Lord of the Flies.

Leaving Anse Cochon

Heading for the Pitons, the Caribbean's most picturesque landmark.

And there they are in the distance...

Petit Piton (the tall peak) and Gros Piton (the shorter but larger peak), two dormant volcanoes on the southwest coast of St Lucia.

Our catamaran, sailing back to Castries.

Back at the ship, we took Lucy and Chloe out for some shopping.

And exploring on the land.
